74. My Smallest Fan

'My Smallest Fan'
6" x 6"
oil on gessoboard

I have three of these Zero vintage fans - this one is my smallest. ;)

I've painted one of them before, and thought it was high time I gave it another shot. Whew! The misshapen blade guards were quite the humdinger!
Blade guards? Ok, just asked my husband - he said it's a 'shroud'.
Anyway, the shiny, wiry frame that goes around the blades was a challenge to paint! :)

Thanks for stopping by - have a great weekend!

First of all, I love the word humdinger!! You paint so beautifully, I love your fan, you always get the colors, details, and composition just right.

Nora, this is great and I love the title, too. It definitely must have been challenging but you didn't let it beat you. One of my favorite things is the black cord.

Wow--That's an eye catcher Nora--that blue is stunning. And the shadow...Lovely. May I ask what palette you use for this?

Thanks, Scarlet. I use the same Utrecht colors every time; Burnt Umber, Phthalo Blue (green), Ultramarine Blue, Alizarin Crimson, Cad Red Medium, Cad Yellow Light and Titanium White. Yup, I copied Carol Marine's palette right off her DPW artbyte. :)
