384. On top of Mt. Howard

'On top of Mt. Howard'

The Wallowa Mountains in eastern Oregon are absolutely stunning and the nickname 'Alps of Oregon' is more than fitting. If you're visiting, don't miss the chance to ride the Wallowa Lake Tramway to the top of Mt. Howard and take a little hike on top of the world. Okay, it's not the tallest mountain in Oregon at 'only' 8200' elevation, but it certainly feels like walking amongst the clouds. So beautiful! I hope we get the chance to return someday soon!

Enjoy!

383. Approaching Telluride

'Approaching Telluride'

Every summer we road trip from Oregon to Minnesota to see my family, and we often sneak in a little sightseeing along the way. In 2024, we hit a couple of stunning National Parks in Utah, and then sauntered over into Colorado for an afternoon in Telluride. This choice led to some sketchy after-dark gravel road routes into Wyoming later that night, but eventually we found civilization again, lol.
Back to Telluride. Ah, Colorado. I live in one the most beautiful places on earth, and Colorado still takes my breath away. Unreal. And, like Oregon, not nearly enough guardrails.
Enjoy!

382. April Fireworks

'April Fireworks'
6" x 6"

After a dark and stormy day, sunshine on an exploding cherry tree will stop you in your tracks.
Or in my case, make you drive around the block for another long, slow, look-see.
What a feast for the eyeballs!
Thank you, neighbors!

Enjoy!

381. Kalie's Roses

'Kalie's Roses'
6" x 6"
oil on gessoboard

I usually paint from my own photos, but I was scrolling IG and saw that the amazing artist Kalie Graves had thrown down a just-for-fun painting challenge. I was immediately drawn to the challenge of capturing the super-soft hues of her stunning roses. It was so hard, lol! And also really cool to watch as heaps of artists offer up their renditions. Check out the hashtag 'roseartchallenge' on Instagram if you're curious.

380. Cathlamet Market

'Cathlamet Market'

Hey! Happy Summer!
My family and I have been very busy painting our house, but I finally found some time to spend in my painting corner.

This sweet little market scene is from Cathlamet, Washington, and I snapped this pic before a baseball game a couple of years ago. I love going to Cathlamet because our most direct route is via ferry over the Columbia River, and driving a car onto a ferry is still one of those unique experiences that my younger self could never have imagined doing so nonchalantly. Like, we're just driving onto a boat and crossing a river to go watch kids play baseball! It makes me grin every time, lol.
Enjoy!

379. Baseball Season

Hey, it's Spring! A whole season passed since I was here last, lol.
This is from a pic I snapped the other day on our way back home from a baseball game.
I love these nursery fields with Mt. Hood in the background.

A frosty December morning in Oregon, this time overlooking the Columbia River dike lands near our little town. I love how the long rays of the sun hit those tree branches and light up the pastures beyond.

377. Jenny Lake

'Jenny Lake'
6" x 6"
oil on gessoboard

In 2003, my sister Rita and I road-tripped from Washington state back home to Minnesota. We planned our route through Jackson Hole and Yellowstone, and the sightseeing was absolutely unbelievable.
Part of the reason I'll never forget this trip was that I had recently received my first-ever digital camera. It was a Nikon Coolpix 2100, a whole 2.0 megapixels! For those of us who grew up on film cameras, the idea of taking limitless photos is something I still get excited about. And you could see them instantly! Lol.

This scene of Jenny Lake in Grand Teton National Park is from the summer of '03.

376. Blueberry Morning

'Blueberry Morning'
6" x 6"
oil on gessoboard

My little town is home to the 'dikelands'; 11,366 acres of river-bottom farmland reclaimed through an extensive network of dikes holding back the Columbia River. The flat, farmy goodness peppered with old barns and livestock reminds me of my home state of Minnesota.

The dikelands close to me are also home to blueberry fields, and in winter, the reddish hue of the blueberry bushes becomes prominent. When the long rays of sunlight hit just so, the rows of dormant blueberry plants are ablaze. I can't get enough! I'm sure I take photos every year, but this is only my second attempt at painting them. The first was almost thirteen years ago!
Enjoy!

'Snow Day Sunset'

It rarely snows in our small town, but it's truly stunning when it does.
This mini is from a snowy December day a few years ago.

Appropriately, this painting will be 'December' in my 2026 painting calendar!
I just ordered them yesterday, and I will post all the info when I'm ready to start taking orders.

Enjoy this mini!

375. Main Attraction

'Main Attraction'
6" x 6"

It was the fall of 2019, and my youngest was in third grade.
I was a chaperone on his class trip to watch a performance by the Oregon Children's Theater in downtown Portland.
I don't recall the play, but I do remember this tree, lol.
Stunning color on a gray November day.
Enjoy!

Mini 15. Tobacco Root Rainstorm

'Tobacco Root Rainstorm'
4" x 4"
oil on gessoboard

It's storming over the Tobacco Root Mountain Range west of Bozeman, Montana.
We drive through Montana at least twice a year, and I took a series of photos of a distant storm on our 2017 trek. I didn't know the name of this 'little' mountain range, or even where in western Montana the photo was taken, but after zooming in on a random mile marker in one of my photos and a little searching via Google Street View, I found the exact spot on Interstate 90. Should have been a detective. ;)
Enjoy this mini!
